Vintage Silver Plate Coffee Pot by Bohrmann Silverplated Biggin from the 1920s
This is a rare antique silver coffee biggin in Art Nouveau style made in 1923 by Bohrmann of Frankfurt, Germany. The small pot was made for the Ballinghaus Bad Kissingen, a spa and hotel in the German town of Bad Kissingen.
Biggins were the first modern method for making coffee using a coffee filter. This is a personal sized pot, making a single cup.
The beautiful Art Nouveau design was a popular choice for hotel ware made by Bohrmann. The body of the pot and upper filter portion has a hammered finish. We know it was made in 1923 because of the “23” in a triangle to the right of the maker’s mark.
This was purchased by my grandfather during a European trip in the seventies. He engraved his name on the bottom of many of his treasures, including this one.
I have chosen not to clean or polish these items. I love the beauty of the aged finish and patina and will leave it up to the buyer to clean and polish.
Shipped in an acid free archival bag.
