This is a vintage, original copy of The Arizona Republic published on July, 4, 1976 celebrating the US Bicentennial. The front page headline “Nation celebrates birthday” is in large bold type above a graphic of George Washington in front of the original American Flag and Gerald Ford in front of the current flag. Other headlines on the front page include “Ford hails Bicentennial and U.S. ‘flame of liberty’” and “1776 in Arizona was typified by missions and Indian wars”.
The paper is complete with 10 sections including the Sunday Comics. Comic strips included are: Blondie, Peanuts, Prince Valiant, Wizard of Id, Andy Capp, Beetle Bailey, The Family Circus, Funky Winkerbean, Snuffy Smith, Dennis the Menace, Rex Morgan, M.D., Mary Worth, Judge Parker, Yogi Bear, The Better Half, Crock, Li’l Abner and Charmers.
The newspaper will be shipped in an archival acid free bag and cardboard backer board to ensure no further damage.
