Vintage Happy Buddha Wood Carving on Wooden Pedestal Base
This happy Buddha carving made in Hong Kong is another treasure from my parent’s time living on the Hawaiian Islands in the seventies. The sitting carved figure features a big, toothy grin and a round belly to rub for good luck. The same wood pedestal it has been sitting on for decades is also included.
Markings: Buddah: Numbered sticker (cannot read number) with “Made in Hong Kong” below.
Pedestal: “Made in HK” stamped into wood on the bottom.
Condition: Very Good Vintage Condition. No chips or signs of repair.
Buddha: Crack on front near his left foot - about .6 inches long on top, about .65 inches long on the bottom. There’s a rough spot near his right foot, but judging by the bottom, there was a knot in the wood there, causing issues when originally carved.
Pedestal - Discoloration, darker finish on the portion the carving sat on for the last 40 plus years. Wear to finish on edges.
