Vintage Silver Plate Wire Fruit Basket by Leonard Hong Kong
Vintage Silver Plate Wire Fruit Basket by Leonard Hong Kong Oval Silverplate Bread Basket, Serving Bowl, Unique Storage from the Sixties
This vintage silver plate basket was made by Leonard Silver in Hong Kong in the 1960s. The basket features a round base and wires rising up towards an oval edge of thicker silver plate wire. For years, my mom used this piece, lined with cloth napkins, as the bread basket on our Thanksgiving dinner. This basket would also be great for storing fruit on your kitchen counter, as a decorative piece on a shelf, or even a spot to toss gloves and hats in the entryway.
I have chosen not to clean or polish this item. I love the beauty of the aged finish and patina and will leave it up to the buyer to clean and polish.
Shipped in an acid free archival bag.
Manufacturer: Leonard
Markings: on bottom “Leonard Silver Plate Hong Kong”
Condition: Good Vintage Condition. One wire is loose, as seen in picture, but can be popped back in the hole on the upper edge of the basket. Greenish corrosion on the bottom edge of the base and the upper portion where the wires are inserted. Also some lighter corrosion on the underside of the wires closest to the base. Most of these would most likely be able to be removed with proper cleaning if desired. Finish is tarnished - this has not been polished in at least 30 years, probably more.
